Hypnosis Techniques – What is Involved?
Share |

Hypnosis is a medical science that is used to treat unusual behaviour of individuals through mental control and psychological influence. This is a highly misunderstood concept due to the nature of therapy involved, which has been traditionally discarded as evil and malicious. But hypnotherapy has grown to be a well-established science, and involves certain systematic techniques and methods of treatment.

  • The very first point to be considered is whether the individual to be treated is willing to undergo this psychological treatment and to cooperate with the hypnotist at every level.
  • Once the subject is ready, he is made comfortable and relaxed, and is asked to focus his complete attention to the hypnotist’s voice while fixing his gaze constantly on any particular object.
  • Under the constant suggestions of the hypnotist, the patient then relaxes his body gradually, and is ultimately asked to close his eyes when they reach the highest point of exhaustion.
  • When the patient finally slips into a hypnotic trance, the hypnotist starts with the therapy through gradual inductions, the success of which can be determined by the patient’s responsiveness and complete surrender of his personal control over his mind.

This therapy derives more success when the patient and the doctor share a good rapport.
