Snoring is now a very common phenomena and an annoying one for many people. But unfortunately there is no proper cure for snoring as there are many ways to control it. But curing it entirely can only be done with the help of surgery.
Usually doctors mainly advice people to change their life style. Reducing smoking and drinking can also help but it can’t eradicate the problem totally. It is always advisable not to be overweight. Exercising, going to the gym regularly and eating healthy food is a must. Sleeping on your side is much better than sleeping on your back if you suffer from snoring. It has been proven that sleeping on your side reduces snoring. Using a good amount of pillows can also help avoid snoring to an extent.
Breathing through your nose during the night helps in snoring less or could even prevent it totally. If the person is prone to colds he should use some medication to get his nose clear so as to breath better. Use of anti- snoring devices is also an effective way. Various devices like Nasal Strips are used for these purposes. It is better to raise your head with a few extra pillows and elevation of the head to a certain degree is also a good cure.
Research has even suggested that music and singing or even playing an instrument helps in controlling the problem. Some of the devices used to control this problem has various side effects and it should only be done after consultation with a doctor (Nasal strips).
Unfortunately there is no complete cure for the snoring problems.
