It so happens that when there is a vibration of the respiratory structures it results in a sound due to air being blocked in the throat while you are asleep. This disorder is termed as snoring.
Here are a few tips to stop this problem:
Tip 1 - Your head should be placed or elevated to a certain position. There should be a good number of pillows to achieve this.
Tip 2 - Reducing alcohol and smoking is very important. Taking pills for sleeping, antibiotics etc help in relaxing the body. (This can result in side effects)
Tip 3 - Milk products should be avoided which blocks the nose before sleeping.
Tip 4 - Being overweight causes problems of snoring. Therefore it is important to reduce weight to cut down on snoring.
Tip 5 - It is always advisable to sleep on your back rather than your stomach which will prevent the problem to an extent.
Tip 6 - Placing a tennis ball near your back will prevent you from sleeping on your back due to the discomfort caused by the ball.
Tip 7 - It is always good to sleep at correct intervals and try not skipping hours of sleep.
Tip 8 - A little bit of honey should be taken before sleeping.
Tip 9 - A big meal should not be eaten before sleeping. The reason being that, if the stomach is full it limits the passage way for breathing.
Tip 10 - Rich food items like cake, pizzas, and aerated drinks should be avoided.
Tip 11 - It is always better to sleep on a harder pillow rather than a softer one because a softer pillow causes the throat muscles to contract and the passageway for air is reduced.
